The last few days have been interesting. I've been spending every day with the set designer, Ed Helbig, shopping for furniture and decorations for the Today Show set up at Grouse Mountain. It took us a long time to find pieces that looked as though they belonged in a lodge; everything we bought has a warm and rustic feel to it. We chose to decorate the entire set with First Nations artwork. I have never in my life seen such phenomenal and moving art. The gallery we worked with is called Eagle Spirit, and it's located on Granville Island. The owner went above and beyond to truly help our set look amazing, picking out pieces he thought would compliment certain components of the area. Today was my busiest day yet. All the furniture and artwork we bought over the week arrived at the mountain, and we had to place it on the gondola and send it up to the lodge. From there we unwrapped every item and positioned it on the set. The owner of the gallery and his assistants joined us in the lodge and helped us position the totem poles as well as help hang the other pieces. They even oiled the wood so it will look great on camera. Friday will be our first show and we'll begin filming at 4 a.m., which means tomorrow night starts our over night shifts. I'll remain working on the set, preparing all the segments and arranging the furniture every morning. It's amazing that I'll be able to experience the show first hand and be an important part of the production process.
